Spinning drums
Spinning drums are weapons that consist of a cylinder which is spun along its axis by gears or rubber bands. They have been used by several bots: Minotaur,
Minotaur II, and
Death Rattle.
Advantages- With a good hit, some drums can toss enemy bots upward.
- Drums can serve as shields, as they are usually placed in front of the bot.
- Against wedgeless hammer bots, drums can cause the enemy to roll over you, thus missing with their hammer and potentially damaging themselves, as demonstrated in Minotaur II's first two matches against BETA.
Disadvantages- Drums are not very destructive. They usually do not do much damage.
- These weapons are sometimes fragile, and so are weak against direct hits. Both types of drum are easily disabled.
- Most spinning drums have very short attack range.
- A drum can cause a bot to flip against a wedge if it rolls up it.
